Raymond J. Tomaine, 67, of Cliffside Park, NJ and formerly of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at home after a sudden illness.

Born July 5, 1954 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph “Cokie” and Carmella Nestico Tomaine.

Ray was a 1972 graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and received his bachelor’s degree in 1976 from Wilkes University and his master’s degree from Bucknell University in 1980. He had been employed for 25 years as a teacher with the New Jersey Department of Education and was currently working as a science teacher at Ridgefield Park High School.

Ray enjoyed gourmet cooking, singing Karaoke and especially loved the music of Frank Sinatra. He was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is survived by one brother: Gerald J. Tomaine of Carbondale, PA; uncles: Thomas, James and Robert Tomaine; a very special aunt: Christa Tomaine of Poughkeepsie, NY; and several cousins.

Private arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
