Jeanne L. Taylor, 97, Tipton, passed away Sunday afternoon. She was born in Sandy Ridge daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (White) Casher. On June 16, 1939 she married Forrest A. Taylor in Winchester, Virginia and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1976. Jeanne is survived by four daughters, Margaret (Nathan) Burns of Bellwood, Lucinda Zindel of Malabar, Florida, Mary Ann (Larry) Russell of Wadsworth, Ohio and Virginia (Tom) Graves of New Holland; three sons; John K. of Tyrone, Jerry G. and Charles W. (Kathleen) both of Tipton; a daughter in law, Lola (Lloyd) Harris of Montoursville; 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, infant Joseph and James R. who died July 27, 1989; a son in law, John W. Zindel; a daughter in law, Rose; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph, Fred Jr., John “Jack” and Charles “Leo”; and a sister, Margaret Burns. In her youth, Jeanne was employed as a housekeeper, both for Grier School as well as in private service. In her later years, she was employed as a cook, along with her sister, Margaret, at Fern’s Restaurant Grazierville and later at Epworth Manor Tyrone. Jeanne was an accomplished homemaker who excelled at cooking, baking and crafts such as quilting, crocheting and needlepoint. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her property. She especially enjoyed playing bingo, reading and working crossword puzzles, as well as visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To honor her request, there will be no public viewing. A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon, Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, Rev. Alan Thomas as celebrant. Committal will be at Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Home Nursing Agency or St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.
